In 2020, thanks to the power of referrals, we started a wonderful collaboration with Francis Staub. At that time his business was Biodiversité Conseil, later named Blue Pangolin. The company is dedicated to conservation and sustainable use of natural – terrestrial, coastal and marine resources, and the development of international cooperation projects and their implementation and evaluation worldwide.
After a fruitful collaboration, and concurrently with worldwide changes due to the COVID pandemic, Francis Staub (thanks for your trust over the years), as ICRI’s coordinator, asked Life in Translation to provide Management and Interpreting services of Multilingual events for a number of webinars, events, and meetings of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI). During ICRI General Meetings, (from the 35th ICRI General Meeting to the last one in 2024: 38th ICRI General Meeting), LiT had the pleasure to meet many of the most effective and wide-reaching global environmental organizations working to restore, conserve and protect Nature, in particular the Marine Environment. Beyond our expectations, after one of the General Meetings, we received a request for a quote from The Nature Conservancy.
Our deep dive into the underwater world began, joining their effort to protect and restore the world’s coral reefs from the effects of climate change and other impacts of human activity.
To date, we have translated some of their most interesting courses in French, Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia:
Coral Reef Restoration: Course aimed at coral reef managers and practitioners with best practice guidance for common coral reef restoration techniques.
Global Mangrove Watch: Course to enable access to a universal Platform to protect Mangroves. This allowed us to learn how thriving mangroves play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity, building resilient coastal communities and supporting effective climate action.
Remote Sensing and mapping for coral reef conservation: Course designed to help marine managers, conservation practitioners, scientists, decision makers, and GIS professionals in their monitoring work.
Resilience-Based Management: Course that provides a core understanding of how to build resilience into management.
