Coordination of the Translation Team for the Evaluation of Life+ Programme Projects

In 2003, Life in Translation was just about to be born… a phone call, (yes, we were still using landlines at the time) and the magic began!

The organization that coordinated project evaluation for the LIFE Environment PROGRAM had engaged a translation agency to provide evaluators with texts in a language of their professional competence. Instead, they were left high and dry, with very tight deadlines and little time to look for valid alternatives. They desperately needed a capable and reliable supplier.

A member of the evaluation team, a marine biologist (thanks, Giovanna Dante!) with whom we had already shared a path, mentioned our young team. Life in Translation went into action! We started with the four languages that the group’s founders were able to cover personally: 🇫🇷 French 🇮🇹 Italian 🇪🇸 Spanish 🇩🇪 German.

We delivered the translations of the projects to be evaluated in record time.

Thus began a ten-year collaboration with a wonderful Consortium: Agreco!

Over the years, the program expanded from:

LIFE+ to Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE [DD1] 2014-2020) and then Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE 2021-2027).

The language selection has increased…

We immediately added: 🇳🇱 Dutch, 🇬🇷 Greek, 🇵🇹 Portuguese

Then it was the turn of: 🇨🇿 Czech, 🇪🇪 Estonian, 🇭🇺 Hungarian, 🇱🇻 Latvian, 🇱🇹 Lithuanian, 🇲🇹 Maltese, 🇵🇱 Polish, 🇸🇰 Slovak, 🇸🇮 Slovenian.

Since 2008 also: 🇮🇪 Irish, 🇧🇬 Bulgarian, 🇷🇴 Romanian.

And since 2014 also 🇭🇷 Croatian

Thus the picture was completed!
